RYA National Powerboat Scheme
Powerboat Level 2 - Cost £195 Coastal Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the international certificate of competence. Course takes place over 2 days, 6 hours per day. Max 3 students per instructor. All course materials provided.
Safety Boat Course - Cost £225 Coastal Introduces the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies and windsurfers, providing safety cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management. Techniques for canoes/kayaks and kitesurfers are covered. Cadidates must have completed the RYA Level 2 Powerboat. Duration 2 days, 6 hours per day. Max 3 students per instructor. All course materials provided.
BCU Paddlesport Start Award £60. Learn to Kayak safely and confidently in tidal conditions. Covers everything you need to know to get started including paddle strokes, self rescue, where you can paddle, buying your kayak and essential safety.
BCU Paddlesport Discover Award £60. When you’ve learned the basics this award develops on existing skills and takes you to the next level on your personal paddling developmen.
BCU one2one coaching day £100. 3 hour session suitable for beginners and intermediates observing social distancing and custom built based on your requirements. Ideal for these difficult times.
RYA Theory Courses
RYA Day Skipper Theory Course - Cost £350 Learn essential safety and navigation skills during this intensive shorebased course. Critical for potential skippers who wish to venture further from home. This course should be completed before taking the Day Skipper Practical and are usually run during the winter. Great for building confidence and skill. Suitable for Yachting, Power/Motor Boats and Sea Kayak. Duration 5 days - 44 hours. Max 10 students per instructor. You will need to purchase a Portland plotter set and provide pencil, rubber and notebook.
RYA VHF/DSC Radio Course - This course is a legal requirement for anyone who wishes to use a marine radio at sea. The marine radio is essential for communication and safety on coastal passages. Covers other essential onboard GMDSS equipment such as EPIRB's, SART and NAVTEX. Complete the theory online at your leisure then visit us for the 2 hour assessment at a time of your choice, cost £90. Max 1 person per assessment lasting 2 hours. All materials provided.
RYA First Aid Course - Cost £90 This one day marine first aid course is suitable for all water users. Learn essential life saving techniques such as CPR, hypothermia, drowning, how to deal with heavy bleeding, shock, burns etc. All RYA instructors and safety boat crew members should have this qualification which is valid for 3 years. If you spend time on the water then this course is a real 'life saver'. Max 6 persons per instructor lasting 8 hours. All course materials provided.
