The Royal Yachting Association and British Canoeinfo are known and respected the world over and they work constantly to ensure that the highest standards are maintained. The water may not have changed much in more than a century, but the way we use it certainly has. RYA and British Canoeing training is forward thinking and designed for whatever level of skill, professionalism and knowledge you want to achieve. 

Perfect Day Watersports operates from Leigh on Sea Sailing Club, Leigh Marina and Two Tree Island all in beautiful Leigh on Sea.

RYA National Powerboat Scheme

Powerboat Level 2 - Cost £220 Coastal Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the international certificate of competence. Course takes place over 2 days, 6 hours per day. Max 3 students per instructor. All course materials provided. 

Safety Boat Course - Cost £225 Coastal Introduces the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies and windsurfers, providing safety cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management. Techniques for canoes/kayaks and kitesurfers are covered. Cadidates must have completed the RYA Level 2 Powerboat. Duration 2 days, 6 hours per day. Max 3 students per instructor. All course materials provided.

British Canoeing Courses

British Canoeing Paddlesport Start Award £60. Learn to Kayak safely and confidently in tidal conditions. Covers everything you need to know to get started including paddle strokes, self rescue, where you can paddle, buying your kayak and essential safety.

British Canoeing Paddlesport Discover Award £60. When you’ve learned the basics this award develops on existing skills and takes you to the next level on your personal paddling development.

British Canoeing one2one coaching day £100. 3 hour session suitable for beginners and intermediates developing your skills. Usually run on a Monday or Tuesday.

RYA Theory Courses

RYA Day Skipper Theory Course - Cost £350 Learn essential safety and navigation skills during this intensive shorebased course. Critical for potential skippers who wish to venture further from home. This course should be completed before taking the Day Skipper Practical and are usually run during the winter. Great for building confidence and skill. Suitable for Yachting, Power/Motor Boats and Sea Kayak. Runs over 2 weekends in January every year at Leigh on Sea Sailing Club. Max 12 students per instructor. You will need to purchase a Portland plotter set and provide pencil, rubber and notebook.

RYA First Aid Course - Cost £100 This one day marine first aid course is suitable for all water users. Learn essential life saving techniques such as CPR, hypothermia, drowning, how to deal with heavy bleeding, shock, burns etc. All RYA instructors and safety boat crew members should have this qualification which is valid for 3 years. If you spend time on the water then this course is a real 'life saver'. Max 6 persons per instructor lasting 8 hours. All course materials provided.
