British Canoeing Paddlesport Start Award

The British Canoeing Paddlesport Start Award at only £60 is an introductory course typically lasting 3 hours of quality time on the water. Usually takes place on the sheltered waters of the tidal Estuary at Leigh on Sea, Southend, Essex. A great day with the emphasis on learning to kayak on the sea and having fun. The course is suitable for all recreational kayakers or canoeists in both coastal and inland destinations. Kayaking is great fun and keeps you fit for a very modest outlay, it is one of the most popular watersports activities in the UK. At the end of the course you will receive the BCU Paddlesport Start Award Certificate and advice on the next steps including potentially buying your own kayak or canoe.

We have a range of boats suitable for everyone including standard kayaks, sea kayaks and open canoes. It's a great way to try different boats before buying your own. This course is ideal for kayaks, canoes, sit on top boats, sea kayaks and any kayak or canoe in which you use a paddle. British Canoeing has Over 90,000 members and is a world leading organisation that provides courses and coaching right up to Olympic level. With over 7 million paddlers enjoying this activity in 2022.
